We’ll send a preliminary questionnaire and schedule a convenient in-home assessment.

During this complimentary visit, one of our experienced registered nurses will conduct a full assessment, answer questions, and help create a personalized care plan.

We also complete all required Medicaid paperwork with your family during intake, because we know how overwhelming, confusing, and time-consuming the process can be.

  • No. For children approved through GAPP, all eligible services are covered through Medicaid at no cost to the family. Private-pay services are also available if needed.

  • We offer flexible scheduling. Our minimum is two hours per visit, and we support part-time, full-time, and 24-hour care depending on your child’s needs.

  • Hours are determined by the Medicaid medical review team based on your child’s medical needs, ADL support requirements, nursing needs, and clinical information submitted in your application.

  • No agency can guarantee approval, as eligibility is determined solely by Medicaid.

However, thanks to our thorough intake and pre-qualification process, we maintain a 97% approval rate for families who meet baseline criteria during our preliminary assessment.

With our extensive experience in this process, we proudly maintain a 97% approval rate for applicants pre-qualified during our initial intake assessment. However, while we strive to provide the best guidance and support, Salvation Private Home Care cannot guarantee approval of services.

  • No. You may modify or stop services at any time. Our goal is to provide flexible, family-centered care that adapts as your child’s needs change.

  • Yes. As the Medicaid-enrolled provider, we complete and submit the entire GAPP application for your family. This includes the nursing assessment, required clinical documentation, and all Medicaid submission forms. We also coordinate with your child’s physician to obtain the Letter of Medical Necessity.

Our team manages the full process for you to ensure accuracy and reduce delays.

  • Autism by itself does not qualify a child for GAPP nursing services or the paid family caregiver option.

GAPP approval requires medical fragility, such as trachs, feeding tubes, seizure disorders, oxygen needs, significant mobility limitations, or other conditions that require skilled nursing or daily medical support.

However, children with autism who need help with behaviors, redirection, and daily structure may qualify for the Behavioral Aide option. If this matches your child’s needs, we’re happy to guide you to the appropriate program.

  • Children who require daily medical care or skilled nursing may qualify, including those with:

    • Trachs

    • Feeding tubes (G-tube, J-tube, NG tube)

    • Seizure disorders

    • Hydrocephalus

    • Cerebral palsy

    • Muscular dystrophy

    • Spina bifida

    • Ventilator / oxygen support

    • Wheelchair dependence or significant mobility limitations

    • Genetic or neurological disorders requiring nursing support

    • Complex respiratory needs

Children with only behavioral or developmental needs (such as autism alone) typically do not meet the medical criteria for GAPP nursing.

  • Many families may qualify for the paid family caregiver option, allowing a parent or close relative to be compensated for providing daily care. Eligibility depends on your child's needs and Medicaid guidelines. We will walk you through this process and handle all required paperwork.

  • Once all paperwork is completed and submitted, the Medicaid medical review team typically processes applications within 4-8 weeks. Some approvals happen sooner depending on case complexity. We help accelerate the process by completing all paperwork with you and ensuring the documentation is thorough and accurate.

  • If your child is denied GAPP services, we will help you understand the reason, and when appropriate, support you through corrections, additional documentation, or resubmission. In some situations, private-pay nursing or personal care may also be available.

  • Yes. Our skilled nursing team includes RNs and LPNs trained to support:

    • Trach care and changes

    • Suctioning

    • Ventilator and oxygen support

    • G-tube/J-tube/NG-tube feeding

    • Emergency breathing support (bagging)

    • Seizure monitoring

    • Complex medication administration

We specialize in caring for medically fragile children with high-acuity needs.

  • If your child does not currently have Medicaid, we can guide you toward options such as the Katie Beckett Waiver, which provides Medicaid to children with significant medical needs regardless of family income. Once approved, they gain access to all Medicaid-covered services, including GAPP.
